About FIZZ
FIZZ is an anonymous, hyperlocal social app for college campuses, co-founded at Stanford in November 2020 by Teddy Solomon and Ashton Cofer (CTO). Students verify with their college email to join their campus community. The company raised a $4.5 million seed round in 2022 with investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, and has since expanded beyond Stanford to other US campuses.
The challenge
Campus social apps grow in sudden waves — a new college launch or a viral post can multiply traffic overnight. Without strong observability, the engineering team is left guessing when something slows down or breaks.
FIZZ needed monitoring that scales with its user base and DevOps workflows that let a lean engineering team ship quickly without sacrificing reliability.
What Newral did
Newral designed and implemented scalable monitoring so the team has clear visibility into application and infrastructure health, with alerting that surfaces real problems early.
We streamlined DevOps workflows — build, deploy and operational processes — so releases are faster and more predictable.
Results
- Scalable monitoring across the platform
- Efficient, repeatable DevOps workflows
- Greater stability and operational clarity for the engineering team
“Newral has been a valuable partner in our growth journey. Their scalable monitoring solutions and efficient DevOps workflows brought stability and clarity to our operations. We highly recommend their services.”
